I was born and raised in Treherbert and am proud to call the Rhondda my home. I attended Treherbert Infants School, Penyrenglyn Junior School and Treorchy Comprehensive School before joining the Army.

Following my military service, I joined the ambulance service, where I continue to serve today as an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner based at Gelli. Caring for people, supporting families and helping those in their time of need has been at the heart of my working life.
My commitment to public service began at an early age. I joined St John Ambulance at 6 yearsold with Fernhill Division, where I developed a passion for first aid and helping others. At 12 years old, I joined the Army Cadet Force at Pentre Barracks, an experience that helped shape my values of discipline, teamwork and service. When I returned to the Rhondda after my Army service, I became an adult instructor with the Army Cadet Force and later ran the cadet unit in Pentre. It was important to me to give young people the same opportunities and support that I had benefited from as a cadet.

Alongside this, I continued my involvement with St John Ambulance, eventually becoming County Commissioner for Cardiff County. I remain passionate about training people in first aid and equipping communities with the skills and confidence to save lives. In February 2022, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, I was asked to assist in delivering ambulances and medical aid to those affected by the conflict. Since then, my wife, Anne, and I have personally funded humanitarian aid missions, sourcing ambulances, collecting medical
supplies from across the UK and driving vehicles across Europe into Ukraine.
To date, I have completed 32 humanitarian aid missions and Anne has completed 17. We have undertaken this work while continuing our professional commitments, because we believe in standing with
those facing hardship and doing what we can to make a difference.
Family and community have always been central to my life. My wife Anne and I met while serving in the Armed Forces. We have two sons, now aged 30 and 32, both of whom proudly represented the community through Treorchy Youth and Treorchy Senior Rugby Clubs. I am also proud to serve as Chair and Founder Member of the Royal Artillery Association Rhondda Branch, a member of the Treherbert and District Branch of the Royal British Legion, and Parade Marshal for local Remembrance Sunday services. Supporting veterans and preserving the memory of those who served remains extremely important to me.

For more than 30 years, I have represented colleagues as a workplace steward with the GMB Union and as a Branch Steward for the Welsh Ambulance Service GMB Branch, standing up for working people and ensuring their voices are heard. I currently serve as a Governor at Treorchy Comprehensive School and remain committed to supporting opportunities for young people across our communities. Throughout my life, whether serving in the Army, working in the ambulance service, supporting veterans, mentoring young people or delivering aid to those in need, I have always believed in service before self.
I care deeply about the Rhondda, its people and its future, and I would be honoured to continue serving the community that has given me so much. Please
For decades, I’ve has helped people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Now I’m asking for your support to continue serving our community as one of the Treorchy’s Labour councillors.
